Join us on Friday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Office of Academic Innovation space in the Hatcher Graduate Library (8th floor of Hatcher South) for Innovation Hour, a gathering hosted by our office two times per month featuring a different theme each session.
During this Innovation Hour, we invite staff and faculty to share their experiences coordinating and facilitating diverse student groups. Participants will brainstorm best practices, advantages and challenges in helping students work effectively with diverse peers.
How might a facilitator organize diverse student teamwork in large classes? …in small classes? …in courses on controversial topics? …in courses with challenging demographics? What are some of your organization and/or facilitation guidelines for group work, and how do you implement them in practice? What are mishaps and mistakes that can happen when helping students work in diverse teams, and how might we address them? We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Academic Innovation welcomes faculty, students and staff to stop by for our unstructured “drop-in” time. Come discuss ideas, share experiences, have questions answered and/or meet members of the Academic Innovation team.
We also invite you to share your vision for the ideal academic community by contributing an experience, idea or recommendation to the Ideas2017 Challenge during the Innovation Hour.
