We are always looking for ways to improve the MOOCs that we offer. Small incremental course improvements can be made while a course is running, while more substantial course improvements may require closing a course and re-opening a new version. In some cases this may require an addendum to the initial proposal to cover production costs. Several of our faculty have built on a successful course by creating a set of courses and/or have involved other faculty in developing courses that are in alignment with theirs. If you are interested in updating your course, please contact the Academic Innovation team to explore potential ideas and improvements.
One of our goals in creating and offering MOOCs is to better understand teaching and learning, and to encourage faculty to experiment with new pedagogies and technologies in online settings. To this end we have a well-defined process for sharing MOOC course data for research and encourage you to review and consider the Academic Innovation MOOC Data Policy. If you have questions about how to plan, prepare, or execute a MOOC research project, please contact us.
Once a course has launched, Academic Innovation will provide a quarterly report which will include information regarding the level of engagement in the course, issues that have surfaced, and learner feedback. On an annual basis, courses will be reviewed by the Faculty Committee that originally approved the course. Every three years a more substantive review will occur. More information on the Course Review Policy is available by request.
