Join us for AIM XR, where we host speakers working with augmented and virtual reality, and everything in between to share their knowledge and engage with the University of Michigan extended reality (XR) community. Iulian Radu will discuss the intersection of immersive design and educational innovation, focusing on aspects of AR/VR collaborative learning, makerspaces, embodied cognition, and immersive software / hardware engineering. At Harvard University, he has been researching AR for collaborative education in maker spaces, and VR for empathy and bias training. Attendees will have a chance to engage in a lively dialogue about the future of collaboration and co-creation in XR for learning.

Presenter:
Iulian RaduIulian Radu is a Research Scientist at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. His work intersects immersive design and educational innovation, focusing on aspects of AR/VR collaborative learning, makerspaces, embodied cognition, and immersive software / hardware engineering. At Harvard University, he has been researching AR for collaborative education in maker spaces (part of HGSE Learning, Innovation and Technology Lab), and VR for empathy and bias training (part of HGSE Immersion Lab). He has previously led XR education research initiatives focused on children and education, while collaborating with organizations such as PBS KIDS, MIT, Samsung Research, Qualcomm, and WestEd Research. Iulian holds a PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology focused on developing immersive technologies for children, and is the founder of the IEEE Virtual Reality conference yearly workshop on K-12+ Embodied Learning through Virtual and Augmented Reality.
