Event Details

Join us on Friday, November 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Digital Education & Innovation Lab (500 E. Washington) for Innovation Hour, a gathering at the Office of Academic Innovation hosted two times per month featuring a different theme each session. Academic Innovation welcomes faculty, students and staff to stop by, discuss ideas, share experiences, have your questions answered and meet members of the Academic Innovation team.

From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. during this Innovation Hour, members of the Fostering Broad and Enduring Participation Design Group and representatives from the U-M Alumni Association will convene an informal conversation on the theme of “Lifelong Learning.” Join us to share your ideas about the ways U-M can leverage digital platforms to connect with alumni and offer enriching post-graduate academic experiences.

How could we effectively engage with alumni at various career stages? How could we use online learning experiences to connect current residential learners with relevant alumni bases? What kinds of online education offerings would be most useful to alumni in terms of professional development, certifications, networking opportunities, etc.? How can alumni continue their Michigan education by learning — for fun — about the world? What can we offer curious retired Michigan alums who have some time on their hands? We look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Participants are encouraged to share their vision for the ideal academic community by contributing an experience, idea or recommendation to the Ideas2017 Challenge during the Innovation Hour.
