Event Details

Join us on Friday, October 21 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Digital Education & Innovation Lab (500 E. Washington) for Innovation Hour, a gathering at the Office of Academic Innovation hosted two times per month featuring a different theme each session. Academic Innovation welcomes faculty, students and staff to stop by, discuss ideas, share experiences, have your questions answered and meet members of the Academic Innovation team.

From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. during this Innovation Hour, members of the Creating Catalysts for Academic Innovation Design Group and staff from the Registrar’s Office will convene an informal conversation on the theme of “The Transcript of the Future.” Join us throughout the morning to meet with Academic Innovation staff about your own ideas for academic innovation on campus, and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. share your ideas about the many ways U-M students learn outside of the traditional course format. Help us brainstorm new and creative ways to measure and document accomplishments that do not fit into credit-hour and GPA systems.

How could we represent the ungraded learning that takes place in research experiences, co-curricular activities, internships, etc.? How could such learning be leveraged in the “Transcript of the Future” to help students communicate their competencies to employers or graduate programs? We look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Participants are encouraged to share their vision for the ideal academic community by contributing an experience, idea or recommendation to the Ideas2017 Challenge during the Innovation Hour.
