Academic Innovation Virtual Event

Event Details

We invite staff members in roles that work directly to support online students or provide student services, or administrators who are establishing staffing structures that support effective online student services to attend this online and hybrid programs (OHP) student services forum. This event will begin with a panelist discussion with program representatives, followed by a breakout session for participants to network with each other and panelists to engage in deeper conversations about emerging online student services topics.

Participants attending this forum can expect to:

  • Identify strategies and techniques for using technology tools (such as Slack, Microsoft Teams) to promote and engage conversations between students and student services representatives
  • Understand what considerations are helpful when choosing the right technology for conversations between students and student services staff members.
  • Learn effective practices to engage online students in groups and other co-curricular activities that involve residential students
Share unique and creative strategies to celebrate milestones (e.g., graduation) for students in online programs

Forum’s panelists include:

  • Amy Homkes-Hayes, Associate Director of UMSI’s Master of Applied Data Science program
  • Lisa Garber, Student Services Program Manager for the School of Public Health’s MPH and MS programs in Population and Health Sciences
  • Patti Russo, Managing Director of Ross Business School’s online MBA
  • Ricky LaFosse, Compliance and Policy Lead (CAI)

The Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) is committed to ensuring that our meetings and events are accessible to all individuals. This event will use Zoom Meeting.
