Topic: Exploring the role of data and modeling in COVID-19 response with University of Michigan researchers leading efforts in India and Michigan

REGISTER

Join University of Michigan School of Public Health Professors Bhramar Mukherjee and Sharon L.R. Kardia for a conversation on COVID-19 and how their modeling and expertise has helped guide the response in both India and the State of Michigan since the earliest days of the pandemic.

Dr. Mukherjee, a professor of biostatistics, and Dr. Kardia, a professor of epidemiology, will explore their processes of using data and modeling to help inform COVID-19 response efforts. The two will also spotlight the India and Michigan responses as a way to delve into the unique challenges of implementation in different contexts. This webinar will encourage participants to understand the public health tools that can be used—and are currently being used—in a global health crisis and to consider how all of these topics can be applied to their own environment and location.

Dr. Mukherjee leads a team of University of Michigan researchers analyzing epidemiologic data from India to make predictions and evaluate interventions related to the spread of COVID-19. This data-driven modeling is helping to inform the public and policymakers in India as they address the global pandemic. In collaboration with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Kardia has been leading an interdisciplinary team from the University of Michigan to develop precision population health approaches to address the pandemic in the state.

All webinar registrants will receive a recording of the event.
