Professor Perry Samson was inspired to design the of Instructor/Adviser Dashboard for Active Learning Courses to provide early and actionable data about student behaviors in class. The Active Learning Dashboard will analyze relationships between data about student behavior (such as participation in student response activities and note taking practices) and exam scores in order to form a proactive framework that effectively measures and models student behavior. The Active Learning Dashboard will serve as a stand alone data resource center that will access information used to help identify at risk students and send that feedback to instructors, with the goal of eventually feeding data to Digital Innovation Greenhouse tools. This will create a framework for importing and combining data from multiple sources in order to provide valuable feedback to instructors and/or advisors, facilitating more effective data collection and more actionable insights.
