Professor H.V. Jagadish designed this Data Science Ethics course to serve as the premiere curriculum regarding ethics in data science for learners to explore independently, as well as to provide content for other educators to supplement their curriculum. This course will provide the first ethical framework to be used as a crucial component of any data science curriculum. The materials address ethical issues regarding who owns data and how different aspects of privacy are valued and getting informed consent, thereby cultivating a guideline for ethical practices in the data science field. This course is open to a broad range of learners, including both data scientists and novice learners interested in learning more about the possible consequences of ethics, data ownership and privacy in data science.
