Professor Scott Page created this MOOC in order to help students make sense of the world through model systems. The course provides an in-depth explanation of model theory and covers topics including tipping points, theoretical, applied and real world learning experiences. Throughout the course, students will become adept at organizing information, making decisions and producing effective strategies in addition to learning the fundamentals for designing institutions and procedures. Model thinking can then be used as a foundation in a myriad of areas including the social sciences, economics, political science, business and sociology. Over 606,000 learners have signed up for the course since its first release, which has provided this foundational system for viewing the world to a global audience for international application. Additionally, the course has helped to enhance residential learning through integration within Professor Anne Sales’ blended learning course on campus.
