Dr. Brenda Gunderson and an instructional statistics team are creating the Statistics with Python Specialization to provide both introductory and advanced concepts of statistics and data analysis using Python for learners across a variety of disciplines. This specialization will take a “lab based” approach to help learners see how these methods are applied in practice. Designed for both residential students and global learners, this online learning experience will introduce learners to “big idea” concepts and visualization techniques that can be applied across multiple domains. Ultimately, the goal of this initiative is to help learners become better consumers of statistical information. Through the development of this specialization, Dr. Gunderson is also looking to address a variety of research questions, such as: What groups of student make use of this material? How does this specialization impact the residential experience for U-M students? How can we scale-up a successful residential course to a global audience?
