Master of Arts in Middle Eastern and North African Studies, University of Michigan, Rackham Graduate School
I chose to work at Academic Innovation in order to help increase educational access and opportunity to historically underserved and underrepresented communities in Michigan and across the globe.
I manage learner engagement for Academic Innovation’s portfolio of online courses by supporting AI team members and volunteer mentors who directly engage online learners. With the design team, I collaborate with faculty, and Academic Innovation’s strategic partners, to develop and implement intentional and sustainable learner engagement plans for a diverse population of global learners.
Prior to joining AI, I was the inaugural coordinator and research administrator for the Digital Islamic Studies Curriculum, a U-M led initiative sharing expertise in Islamic Studies amongst the Big Ten Academic Alliance universities through blended and synchronous learning environments. I have also worked in multiethnic student affairs at U-M where I advised a mentorship program for incoming Black students. Before returning to U-M, I taught as a secondary social studies teacher in both Chicago and Detroit, and for a time, organized a statewide social equity campaign as a Detroit-based community organizer.
