Why I choose to work at Academic Innovation:

I chose to work at Academic Innovation because I wanted to be involved with a university and organization that values quality, innovative education for all.

Current Roles/Previous Experience:

As a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) in the Office of Academic Innovation, Chelsea assists in the creation of online learning experiences for a global audience. Her designs are student-centered and draw upon constructivist and experiential learning theories. Chelsea’s research interests include the intersections of culturally relevant online pedagogy in open spaces, teacher/learner reflection, the conceptualization of educational metaphors, and aesthetic online education.

Chelsea is an experienced educator and has taught in a variety of settings from K-12 education to doctoral education to informal, non-profit programs. After earning her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Toledo, she served as an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction for Concordia University Chicago (CUC) where she developed and taught Masters and Doctoral students online and face-to-face. Her practical instructional design work began following her tenure at CUC as an Instructional Designer at The University of Toledo. Chelsea was responsible for designing courses in a variety of content areas, facilitating faculty development, and leading faculty development research projects.

Chelsea is an accomplished musician and plays the flute semi-professionally. She also dabbles in playing piano and ukulele. If you’re interested in learning about music, she’s your gal!

Chelsea also enjoys practicing yoga. She’s not certified to teach, but she’d be happy to set-up a mat and have a practice session!
