Why I Choose to Work at Academic Innovation

I chose to join the Center for Academic Innovation because I believe in the mission and principles and was excited to work in a place that is at the forefront of designing accessible learning experiences at scale. And the opportunity to work with a team that has so many shared passions and values was also important to me. Throughout my career I have worked at the intersection of undergraduate student education, equity & inclusion, and student success, and I always want to do work that has a blend of all of these elements in some way.

Current Roles/Previous Experience

Dr. RaShonda Flint is the Senior Director of Educational Equity and Inclusion. In this role she focuses on initiatives, projects, and activities centered on transforming undergraduate education through new innovations in support of expanded access and inclusion. She also coordinates the center’s DEIJ activities and planning efforts.

Prior to joining CAI, Dr. Flint was the U-M College of Literature, Science, and the Arts Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education and Student Academic Affairs. In this role she provided leadership and vision to a diverse team of over sixty professional staff, and her portfolio included responsibility for the undergraduate student experience and work with faculty, staff, and students to support student success. Prior to returning to U-M she served as Assistant Dean for the College of Sciences and Technology at the University of Houston-Downtown where she oversaw advising, student success, and enrollment management for the college, and she has also overseen the development of student experiences for diverse student populations in TRIO programs through student affairs leadership at Arizona State University.
