Ryan Henyard

Faculty Experience Designer

Why I choose to work at Academic Innovation:

My time at the University of Michigan has largely been spent finding uncommon paths through the disciplinary landscape, and I always aim to apply knowledge from those different spaces to what I wanted to do next. The one consistent thread connecting all of my experiences has been a desire to make a positive impact, and Academic Innovation is an incredible place that supports transformative possibilities in higher education.

Current Roles/Previous Experience:

As the Faculty Experience Designer at the Office of Academic Innovation, Ryan works to imagine, design, support and celebrate the experiences of Academic Innovation’s faculty partners. Ryan is particularly interested in creating valuable innovation experiences for UM faculty, with a focus on building community, ensuring faculty well-being and creating mutually beneficial partnerships.

Before joining UM’s Office of Academic Innovation, I served as the Education Informatics Analyst at Michigan Medicine, where I led a number of strategic efforts to support medical education. In addition to leading the Medical School’s adoption of the Canvas learning management system, I supported faculty and administrators through their curricular redesign, enabling new learning pedagogies, assessment instruments and research opportunities.

I am also deeply engaged in efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) as the Center’s implementation co-lead and am active in educational outreach efforts on campus through the Center for Educational Outreach and the University Outreach Council.
