Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a motivated, responsible, and creative student to assist in the creation of graphic design assets and animations for a new online course (MOOC) series titled “Rocket Science 101,” under the direction of College of Engineering Professor Aaron Ridley


The core tasks associated with this role are: 

  • Create engaging and usable visual assets, including static images and animations for slide decks and lecture videos based on the faculty’s course content
  • Work closely with the faculty member and Learning Experience Designer to understand what visual assets are needed 
  • Collaborate with the CAI design team (Design Manager, Learning Experience Designer, and Media Designer) to ensure effective and efficient sharing of assets

Required qualifications

  • Intermediate level (or higher) skills in graphic design using Adobe Illustrator (or comparable software) 
  • Intermediate level (or higher) skills in animation using Adobe After Effects (or comparable software) 
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in a multicultural and collaborative environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfort working in an environment with rapidly changing requirements and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (specifically Google Docs, Sheets, Folders)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (specifically PowerPoint)

Hours, wage, & dates

  • Hours: 10-15 hours per week (flexible hours)
  • Pay: Undergraduate $17/hr, Graduate $20/hr, PhD/JD $23/hr
  • Start Date: October 2022 (as soon as possible) 
  • End Date: April 2023, or whenever course design is complete
  • Deadline for applications: Ongoing (candidate will start in Fall 2022 semester)
