Online Community-Building Fellow

Pay Rate: Undergraduate $17/hr, Master’s $20/hr, Doctoral $23/hr
Job Duration: Up to 12.5 hours per week for the winter 2025 semester, with the possibility of extending

Who we’re looking for:

The Course Operations Team is looking for a student to assist with designing an online community-building experiment to increase learner engagement and retention in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This student will engage with global learners within the Coursera platform and assist with creating and assessing the effectiveness of a virtual learning community.

What You’ll Do:

  • Engage with global learners using Coursera Discussion Forum and Reddit platform
  • Report weekly on community engagement, such as questions or discussions with learners
  • Assist with the creation and development of a online learning communities
  • Assist with assessment of online learning community effectiveness

  • Strong communication, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Confidence working or learning in an online environment
  • Desire to learn
  • Some coursework in education-related field helpful but not necessary
  • Knowledge of engagement strategies or pedagogies helpful but not necessary
