Software Ambassador Fellow

Deadline to apply: Ongoing (Priority given to those who apply by January 19th)
Location: 317 Maynard St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 (75% of the working time must be completed in person)
Pay Rate: Undergraduate $17/hr, Master’s $20/hr, Doctoral $23/hr
Job Duration: 10-15 hours per week for the winter term, with the possibility of extending the fellowship into the spring/summer term.

Who we’re looking for:

The Software Operation team is looking for a collaborative, driven, and creative fellow to help us manage and expand the adoption of our software portfolio. Our team has built an exciting portfolio of software that is already being used around the world, and we’re looking for a talented student who wants to help us take them even further, especially students who are passionate about innovative learning environments and technology.

What You’ll Do:

This fellowship will focus on outreach management, user consultations, and application support. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in tasks such as:

  • Support faculty who are looking to adopt new technologies and redesign their courses
  • Create user-facing material for software
  • Share your work and collaborate with our internal teams
  • Prepare Material for faculty and staff consultations
  • Provide feedback and ideas for new features to better support our users
  • Streamline our support and adoption workflows
  • Additional tasks may depend on your areas of strength

Experience and Skills You’ll Gain:

  • Working with educators throughout the University of Michigan and beyond. 
  • Develop technical writing skills
  • Practice presentation skills
  • Work alongside business and technology professionals who have experience in a variety of areas including software development, design, branding, research, and academia.

Student Qualifications:

  • Experience in education and/or educational technology
  • Willingness to take on unfamiliar, complex tasks and technologies and give them your best shot (that’s all we ask!)
  • Understanding of modern educational pedagogies and techniques
  • Interest in applying software and technology to educational settings
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Works well in an environment with rapidly changing requirements and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to distill complex software applications into easy-to-understand presentations
  • Works well independently and as part of a multicultural and collaborative environment
  • Self-motivated and take pride in the quality of their work
  • Ability to recognize areas of opportunity for personal and product growth
  • Interest in media production and tutorial-making (Preferred, not required for applying)
  • Knowledge of Salesforce (Preferred, not required for applying)
