Software Development Student Fellow

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for well-rounded, Motivated and flexible fellows to help us develop digital applications that enhance the residential education experience and facilitate engaged and personalized learning at the University of Michigan.

Responsibilities

The fellowship will involve playing an active role in the AI software development team. Software Development Fellows will implement designs and create and test software across the development stack (from database to server-side code to front-end user interfaces). 

General requirements for all our fellows include:

  • Work well independently in a multicultural and collaborative environment
  • Work well in an environment with rapidly changing requirements and priorities

Specific requirements for the software development fellowship are as follows:

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or experience in computer science, computer engineering, or related field 
  • Experience with one or more object-oriented programming languages

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • Python, Ruby or a similar programming language
    • Django / Flask, Ruby on Rails or similar web frameworks
    • JavaScript (ES6 preferred) and related libraries and frameworks (e.g. Vue.js)
    • HTML5 + CSS, LESS or SASS 
    • MySQL or similar relational database software
    • Git VCS

Hours

40 hours per week (flexible hours; remote/ hybrid position with the opportunity to extend fellowship into the academic year.

Start Date

May 2023 (flexible)

End Date

End of August 2023 (flexible) with possibility of continuing employment
