XR Equipment Fellow

The Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) is offering a Fall 2022 fellowship opportunity that is available to all University of Michigan undergraduates and graduate students. Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a driven, detailed-oriented, and collaborative fellow to manage Extended Reality (XR) equipment used to support the residential education experience and facilitate engaged and personalized learning at the University of Michigan. 


As the XR Equipment Fellow, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain a suite of XR technologies, including headsets (Quest, Hololens, HP Reverb) and 360 cameras
  • Manage accounts and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Coordinate with the XR team and partners across University of Michigan to lend and track equipment
  • Iterate on organizational practices and create documentation

Additional tasks will depend on your areas of strength.

Required Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience in administration, informatics, education, engineering, or a related field
  • Willingness to take on unfamiliar, complex tasks that require specific processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest or passion in XR

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with XR headsets
  • Experience with Google sheets, Trello, WebCheckOut, or similar organizational tools
  • Ability to create and improve upon organizational processes

Hours, wage, & dates

Hours: 10-15 hours per week (Flexible)

Start Date: Flexible in Fall 2022

End Date: Winter 2023 with possibility of continuing employment
