Ji Hyun Yu

Learning Experience Designer

Role: As the Learning Experience Designer for the School of Social Work (SSW), Ji Hyun works closely with faculty to develop research-based curricula and disseminate innovative teaching practices for residential, online, and hybrid courses and programs. Ji Hyun also collaborates with Academic Innovation (AI) staff to explore and design ways to create authentic learning experiences in a variety of educational settings.

Experience: Prior to joining the AI team, Ji Hyun worked for the Hub for Teaching and Learning Resources at the UM-Dearborn and taught graduate courses at Virginia Tech and Purdue University. Before moving to the field of higher education, Ji Hyun worked at Samsung CREDU, where she specialized in the area of competency-based training and strategic assessment development. Her design practice focuses on the principles of learner-centered pedagogy that promote critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Her areas of interest include case-based/project-based learning, metacognition, personalized learning, and learning analytics.
