Ellen Kuhn

Public Engagement Specialist

Role: Ellen supports Academic Innovation’s public engagement initiatives in her role as Public Engagement Specialist. She works collaboratively with individuals and groups around the University to build on existing efforts and envision new directions for public engagement in the future. Ellen is particularly interested in fostering models of engagement that are grounded in mutual trust, reciprocity, and empathy.

Experience: Before joining Academic Innovation, Ellen led the nationally award-winning Teens Make History program at the Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis. In that role, she guided high school apprentices in developing museum theater plays, exhibits, oral history initiatives, and collections management projects. Previously, Ellen worked closely with community members and her graduate cohort on the Terra Cotta Community History Project, which documented and shared the rich stories of former residents of a segregated company town in Greensboro, North Carolina.
