Ricky LaFosse

Compliance & Policy Lead

Role: Ricky provides compliance guidance and supports policymaking efforts related to distance education. His responsibilities include developing compliance resources and procedures for online and hybrid programs and collaborating with academic and administrative units across U-M to mitigate risk while supporting continued innovation in a highly complex regulatory environment. Ricky also supports distance education policymaking efforts as a member of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) Policy Committee.

Experience: Prior to his role at U-M, Ricky was a compliance consultant for the Office of Online Education at Indiana University while also working towards a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and teaching courses on education law and ethics. While in law school, he interned with Indiana University’s Office of the Vice President and General Counsel and with the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit. Ricky taught middle-school English for three years prior to entering law school.
