Marissa Reid

Student Program Coordinator

Role: Marissa recruits, engages, and provides oversight for all student fellows helping to support the Office of Academic Innovation’s efforts. Marissa facilitates communication for co-curricular opportunities, provides integrated learning experiences, and is a liaison between U-M schools and colleges, faculty members, and the Office of Academic Innovation. Marissa is also developing an alumni community that will connect Academic Innovation student alumni and current Academic Innovation student fellows.

Experience: Prior to her role at U-M Marissa started her professional career as a Program director with the Boys & Girls club of Toledo, where she learned about program management, building partnerships, and serving as a support system for others. This transitioned well into her time at The University of Toledo in the Provost office as a Success Coach. Marissa worked to retain and matriculate students toward graduation utilizing holistic approaches in her work with students. She also became involved in restructuring and teaching the First year Experience courses for students. Marissa has given regional and national presentations to academic advisors through NACADA.
