Shalaunda Reeves

Learning Experience Designer Senior

Why I Choose to Work at Academic Innovation:

I chose to work at Academic Innovation because of my desire to explore how post-secondary education can best benefit from innovative approaches to learning in an effort to increase access and foster equity. I am excited to work with students and colleagues in identifying relevant ways innovation can support meaningful learning.

Current Roles/Previous Experience:

As a Learning Experience Designer, Shalaunda partners with faculty in designing online learning and extended reality enabled education experiences. Her designs are grounded in theoretical approaches (e.g. Multimedia learning, sensemaking) geared towards supporting the goals of the overall learning experience. From a design-based perspective, Shalaunda’s research explores the various ways students experience and learn in online and extended reality environments, to understand for whom and under what conditions such experiences promote educational processes and outcomes.

In her previous work, Shalaunda developed fully online STEM courses, more specifically courses that required a laboratory component, for a land-grant university. She also designed and supported implementation of virtual reality undergraduate science laboratory experiences. As well, Shalaunda has taught in a variety of settings spanning K-20.
