Why I Choose to Work at Academic Innovation

Growing up in a small country in Southeast Asia, and later following my dreams to come to the United States to study and work has given me a unique perspective of the learning process. I was one of the fortunate few from my area to have such an opportunity. The Center for Academic Innovation is helping more students around the world gain access to the education they seek remotely, students that may not have been able to learn from such a prestigious school as the University of Michigan in the past based on their circumstances. That is why I am proud to work at AI.

Current Roles/Previous Experience

The role of Financial Specialist is responsible for making sure all financial transactions are accurate and comply with the university policies and AI internal policies. Those include reconciling statements of activities, approving concur reports, processing payments, purchasing goods/services, providing pre-award and post-award research administration support, creating monthly, quarterly, or ad-hoc financial reports and assisting in other financial tasks as assigned.
For the past seven years Wanlada has worked in one capacity or another at the University of Michigan. Prior to joining the AI team, she spent nearly three years at the U-M Library Finance Office as a financial specialist.
