Why I Choose to Work at Academic Innovation

I chose to work at the Center of Academic Innovation because I was inspired by the parallels between the work being produced here and that of documentary filmmaking. Similar to documentaries, CAI’s work involves a broad spectrum of topics, exploring new worlds, and learning from experts through engaging, visual content. I see this as an incredible opportunity to make an impact in the educational process through the powerful medium of film.

Current Roles/Previous Experience

Currently, Ben is a Media Designer for the Center of Academic Innovation and creates video content for online courses.

Prior to joining CAI, Ben was the Digital Media Coordinator for the athletic department at Wayne State University. In this role, he created promotional video content for Wayne State’s athletic teams. Ben also worked in government for Plymouth Township as an Audio/Visual Specialist, where he filmed town hall meetings for cable television. Over the years, Ben worked in the film industry on numerous projects such as commercials, music videos, live events, shorts, and feature films as well.

Ask Me to Learn About

I’m a big cinephile and I always love to talk about films in general. More specifically, I enjoy discussing the history of documentary filmmaking. I also have a passion for producing and directing documentaries.

I’m an avid disc golfer and love teaching others how to play. No matter your skill level, its a sport everyone can enjoy.

I host an Academy Awards prediction website every year. I use historical context, statistics, and gut feelings to predict the winners of each ceremony. If you need any help on your Oscar prediction ballot, just ask.
