I chose to work at Academic Innovation because of its inspiring mission to transform education through innovation and inclusivity. As a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, I am excited to help build a state-of-the-art online platform for learning. I believe that while many would love to take a course here at the University of Michigan, not everyone can. Michigan Online allows students to be one of the leaders and best without needing to step foot on campus. I am thrilled to help extend the reach of this fantastic university through the Michigan Online platform, making high-quality education accessible to learners worldwide.

Current Roles/Previous Experience

James Tobias serves as the Product Manager for Michigan Online at the Center for Academic Innovation at the University of Michigan. In this role, he is dedicated to building and enhancing the Michigan Online platform, striving to expand access to high-quality education through innovative digital solutions. His work involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cutting-edge educational technologies that enhance learning experiences for a diverse global audience.

Before joining the Center for Academic Innovation, James amassed almost a decade of experience in educational technology. His previous roles include Product Manager at Ready Education, where he led cross-functional teams to drive product innovation and user engagement, and Campus App Manager at Eastern Michigan University, where he harnessed technology to boost campus involvement. Additionally, James has served as a Product Implementation Specialist at Richard Bland College of William & Mary, focusing on integrating educational tools to support student success.
