The people and projects are the best parts of working at Academic Innovation. I am blown away by the variety and depth of the talents of my AI colleagues. We are a group with a wide range of interests and I can always find someone to talk to about any topic! This group comes together to create the most amazing projects too. The range of projects we work on is impressive and I’m so delighted to be a part of a team that produces such quality experiences for our learners.
I am a Learning Experience Designer at the Center for Academic Innovation, I work with a variety of stakeholders to craft student-centered learning experiences that are engaging, rigorous, and aligned to learning objectives. I employ various learning design models including Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning, while drawing on my own experiences as a classroom teacher. My interests include community building in the online and residential classroom, access to education, and teacher preparation.
Prior to my arrival at AI, I was an Instructional Designer and Educational Technologist for a small, private college. In this role I honed my learning experience design skills and applied my knowledge of educational pedagogy and technology in a higher education setting. I began my career in the K-12 environment where I taught 5th grade. While in this role I cultivated a love for adult learning pedagogies while mentoring and coaching novice teachers. This ultimately led me to change focus and pursue opportunities in higher education.
