Why I Choose to Work at Academic Innovation

I work in Academic Innovation because I’m passionate about helping U-M be the best university we can be when it comes to innovative teaching and learning as well as expanding access to academic programs and research. Being able to work with faculty, students, and staff across all 19 colleges and schools at the University, along with colleagues from other central administrative offices provides me the opportunity to really interact with and impact the wonderful breadth and depth of our mission as a great public research university.

Current Roles/Previous Experience

I lead operations across the Academic Innovation portfolio, including policy development and operational process optimization. I liaise closely on behalf of Academic Innovation with several offices within the University of Michigan to ensure Academic Innovation-supported initiatives comply with key university policies and procedures as well as applicable external laws and regulations. The Operations Team I oversee is responsible for ensuring compliance with university policy in areas related to distance education, accessibility, human resources, financial management, and IP management and commercialization. In addition, we partner with colleagues within Academic Innovation to establish external partnerships related to our work.

Experience: Prior to my role at U-M, I served as the Senior Director for Research Administration at City of Hope in Los Angeles. There, I oversaw over several internal offices responsible for departmental and central administration of external and internal research funding at the hospital. Prior to City of Hope, I worked at the University of Chicago where I led a team responsible for negotiating all research-related contracts for the university. Before that, I worked at Huron Consulting Group, where I was a manager in the higher education practice and led projects to enhance administration at several top research universities.
