Interactive Experience (XT) Developer Fellow

Pay Rate: Undergraduate $17/hr, Master’s $20/hr, Doctoral $23/hr

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking an independent, detail-oriented, and reliable student to join the Center for Academic Innovation’s XR team and join our summer Creative Studios Collective. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of immersive technology in academia, helping to shape innovative learning experiences for students and faculty alike.

As a member of the Creative Studios Collective, you will play a vital role in helping create new XR content that will become part of the CAI’s Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) content library. In the Interactive Experience Developer role, you will assist the rest of the CS Collective with the creation of XR content including 3D models, textures, and animations. Additionally you will help with the technical aspects of bringing content to life in both online platforms as well as facilitating the creation of video content using our LED Volume using Virtual Production workflows.

What You’ll Do:

As an Interactive Experience Developer Fellow, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in XR design sessions
  • Create 3D content (models, textures, animations)
  • Script user interactions using a variety of programming languages and platforms
  • Collaborate with other members of the CS Collective 

This fellowship is a great entry opportunity for students interested in XR and with a general aptitude for technology and organization. Additional tasks and opportunities for growth will depend on your areas of strength.

Experience You’ll Gain:

The student will gain practical experience in Salesforce data management and project management. The fellowship will enable a student to build experience within the Salesforce platform and to work closely with CAI staff to improve partnership development documentation and reporting capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Interest in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality
  • Experience creating 3D models using Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, ZBrush, or similar tools
  • Experience with a game engine, such as Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc.
  • Experience with a version control system, such as GitHub, GitLab, SVN, Perforce, etc
  • Willingness to take on unfamiliar, complex tasks
  • Portfolio of previous projects
  • Working well independently in a multicultural and collaborative environment
  • Strong attention to detail

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completed game projects outside of a structured class assignment
  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
